Mixed bag

William Cavanaughs nya bok heter Beeing Consumed: Economics and Christian Desire, och anlägger ett teologiskt perspektiv på globaliseringen, marknaden och konsumtionen. Indiefaith bistår med intressant recension.

James K.A. Smith låter meddela att han just avslutat arbetet med en ny bok med titeln Desiring the Kingdom. Att döma av innehållsförteckningen och stycken som det nedan, ser det grymt intressant ut.

I argue that Christian discipleship is a matter of formation, not mere information--and that "Christian" education should be fundamentally a matter of shaping our love, our desire, to be oriented to the shape of the kingdom of God. And such formation happens not primarily via the heady, cognitive "lectures" (whether in our Protestant sermon factories or our Christian college classrooms) but through embodied practices that seep into our imagination and get hold of our gut, our heart, our kardia.

Den som inte orkar vänta tills våren 2009 för att få läsa något av Jamie, kan ju alltid förhandsbeställa antologin After Modernity?: Secularity, Globalization, and the Re-enchantment of the World som släpps i dagarna.

Till sist .... Det har kommit till min kännedom att Stanley Hauerwas meddelat att han kommer rösta på Barack Obama. That kinda settles the deal for me :)
