Håkan Arenius sätter i dagens Dagen ord på något av det som kan ligga bakom att allt fler kristna tycks attraherade av denna typ av alternativa gemenskaper:
"Väckelsefolkets individualism har gjort efterföljelsen till en privatsak, och kommuniteten svarar på ropet efter fostrande och stödjande gemenskaper som gör kyrkan synlig i världen. "

HA sätter fingret på en viktig mekanism - och farlig. Han pekar också på en viss elitism. Kontrasten till "kommuniteten" finns i "kyrkan".
Låt mig citera ett lysande passage i en bok som läses hemma just nu:

Visst finns det en risk för elitism även i denna "rörelse". Men så länge dessa gemenskaper präglas av öppenhet och utgivande, samt inte avskärmar sig från de svaga och utsatta, ter sig inte risken tillräckligt stor för att dämpa min fascination.
Även jag uppskattar Smith´s "Who's afraid of postmodernism?". Fantastiskt citat!!
Jag ser väl "ny-monasticismen" (som framställd i Boston Globe-artikeln) som ett välkommet inlägg i samtalet om just "practices of being the body of Christ".
